Wow… Thanks to everybody for all the great feedback. I’ve received enough great suggestions through various channels that I’ve decided to keep a running list in order to keep track of them and give the suggesters something to look forward too. Some of these I still will need to get some new paint colors for, but it will be worth it.
Anyway, here is a list of 8 bit mosaics I plan to create in the near future…
Any other suggestions? Feel free to add them in the comments!
I live in a high rise apartment, so I can’t have a fireplace. This was the next best thing. I want to try this with a black background but I don’t have enough black pixels yet.
Now that I’ve set up “Double Wide”, I need to put it to good use. Because I don’t have enough pieces of any one color to serve as a Sprite background, I decided to try something more “decorative.” I did happen to have a lot of light blue and white pixels – and a decent amount of the light green, dark blue, and dark green to compliment them. All in all, I’m pretty pleased with it. This looks more like something you would see at a furniture or decoration store. I’ll call this one “Spearmint” because of the colors. The 4×8 size is pretty impressive.
After much procrastination, I went ahead and manufactured 4 more 24×24 inch “grids”. I installed 2 on either side of my existing 4×4′ square – effectively doubling the size. Moving forward, I’ll dub this installation “Double Wide.” After my new batch of pixel/tiles I should have enough to make something interesting.
My need for new pixels is never ending. I have some great new ideas for new mosaics, but I’m always one color or a few pixels short. I started up the pixel factory again.
MegaMan oversees the paint drying….
“Barnyard Green” – This color looks awesome in person.
My favorite so far… I have since fixed the eyes based on some feedback from the experts.
It took about 45 minutes to convert from Mario to Megaman. I took one picture midway through the transformation.
Everyone’s favorite elf. It turned out great! Based from an image I found here.
